I didn’t set out to start a movement. I just wanted homeschooling to feel right — not like school at home, not like a checklist, but like life.

 

As a former teacher, I brought all the structure and standards home… and it quickly stole our joy. Every day felt like a battle to “keep up.” My daughter was learning, but we weren’t connecting. We were doing school — not living it.

 

So I started over. We stepped away from the worksheets, the bells, the pressure and started learning through life. Math happened in the kitchen. Writing came alive through letters to Grandma. Science showed up in the garden, and reading unfolded through the stories she loved.

 

That shift changed everything. Learning became natural. Our days felt peaceful. And I realized: this is what education was meant to be connected, joyful, and rooted in real experiences.

 

That’s why I created Live the Lesson to help families break free from traditional schooling and build a homeschool that works for them, not against them. Here, parents find confidence. Kids find purpose. And every day becomes a lesson worth living.
